MY GOAL IS TO Empower students to transform their own day or how they live their life.

Anita creates a safe place in which students can: practice yoga and meditation, let go of all judgment and distraction, and release  self-doubt. 

 Anita is excited  to marry the Eastern mindfulness practices with the Western Christian message of transformation and grace.  Jesus came to earth in a human body and his birth has changed history more than any other human being. And yet, there is this enormous piece missing from our prayer and faith practices-- the BODY.  

Anita began her love affair with yoga 10 years ago to ease extreme mood swings and IBS. She has enjoyed sharing the gift for over 7 years teaching in home settings, businesses, prisons, gyms, studios, and churches. She's known for her impassioned servant's heart, unique self-expression, and inspirational style of teaching that incorporates both the physical and grace-filled aspects of the practice.  Anita feels strongly that as much as we may understand our connection to G O D intellectually, there is a piece of the deep, abiding love and forgiveness that is enhanced when this is embodied, as in yoga.  Personally, her healing continues as there was a time not too long ago where she was medicating for IBS, PMDD, and sleeplessness. Last year she added seated mindfulness meditation as a daily practice and dubs this time with her Divine Therapist and has found it the perfect grounding and centering start to the day.  

Anita lives in NJ with her husband, two teenagers and golden retriever, Sierra.  They live by the family mantra, "Either everything is a MIRACLE or nothing is!"

Her classes integrate dynamic vinyasa flow asana (linking movement with breath) with the application of  alignment, meditation, poetry, and prayer to create an inner journey towards healing, transformation and empowerment.   Each of us is a unique expression of God's creation and Anita acknowledges that finding one's gifts, passions, and voice are key in sharing with the world in a rewarding and meaningful way. 

BACKGROUND EDUCATION

In another life Anita graduated with a business degree from UD and was a commercial banker. She is grateful for the opportunity to reinvent herself!!
Anita completed her 200 hours with Beyond Asana's Maura Manzo and Brittany Policastro in 2014. This training included a service project partnering with buildOn and laying the foundation for a school in Malawi. This unique aspect of her YTT fits beautifully with her mission and purpose and is the primary reason Anita chose to study with these incredible teachers.

Honored to also have trained with James Fox, Prison Yoga Project, Sianna Sherman and Desiree Rumbaugh, Simon Park, Seane Corn and her home studios Yogawood and Pacific Yoga.

Anita’s unique voice can be heard on Elephant Journal, Women's Spiritual Poetry, YogiTimes, Rebelle Society and has appeared in Mantra magazine. She was  a featured instructor at a DC Trans4m National Gathering on Urban Transformation.

Her favorite place of all to teach has been at the Wild Goose Festival in Hot Springs NC these past two summers!!

Anita is known for her brave approach to writing and teaching through sharing her personal struggles on her road to wholeness and success.

Grace can just as easily be found at the top of the inhale as at the bottom of the exhale: meaning she adamantly believes that humans shouldn’t be defined by transgressions; rather, by the grace with which they overcome adversity.

Join a small group of women and Anita Grace Brown, yoga + meditation teacher as well as Vanna Fox, ordained minister and Reiki practitioner for a weekend in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains!!  Together in a community of spiritual women, we'll  venture on a hike to explore any resistance to healing, to illuminate "why am I keeping myself from the top of the mountain, where the view is divine".  We hope you will find yourself in the company of your very own sweet -spirited soul.

 

Together, we will climb  Mount Pisgah. (weather permitting!!!)

We will stay in a gorgeous, working farmhouse (with real live chickens!), built in 1903 and renovated in 2008. The house has the coziness of an old country home and vitality of a modern art gallery, as the owners have spent the last two decades collecting and covering the home in, mostly local, folk and fine art. The great room has a cascade of windows that show off stunning Hominy Valley. You will wake up to the sun rising over blue peaks of mountains and fresh mountain air.

 

We'll start the day with an all-levels yoga practice which will prepare us for a short centering prayer meditation. We will explore poetry as Lectio Divina and recieve healing Reiki from Vanna. We will journal and maybe enjoy explore some liturgical dance and song!!

Enjoy healthy, whole-food local farm fresh meals and dinner prepared by a professional chef.  What's included? Two dinners (Fri and Sat), two lunches (Sat and Sun) and two breakfasts, tea, coffee.

  • The nearest airport is Asheville, NC.
  • Transportation to and from the airport will be provided.

Space limited to 5 daytrippers. If you wanted to get a private room and it is booked you can stay at a local hotel and pay the day rate but remember we have to limit the space to practice!!
